That is exactly right. i am very self sufficient and independent but many are not and they are easy targets. This is more for them than for me.

You composition goes far and above the individual in the poem. Pieces of this remind me of Prince's "Controvesy". It seems that which we don't understand we criticize and then craft our own definition to fit our world view.
You are correct, it does have wider implications. Didn't know that Prince song, so looked it up. Good stuff. i have written of this problem of general perception in other poems such as Why Bi. Damaging as that sort of mindset is, maybe there is some good to it though. It forces those who don't fit into the box to stand by themselves in the face of adversity and conclude that they alone can define what they are and by that come to personal terms with it, without needing a general consensus.
