Image for the poem is it peace when you instill it with a weapon?

is it peace when you instill it with a weapon?

Is it peace of mind or instilled silence?
Is it respect or is it fear?
Is this a friendly neighborhood or a ghost town?
Where have they gone?
When you bring peace with a weapon?
I see them mumble after you pass.
I see them point fingers out of sight.
I hear their honesty to you as a song of lies.
I do believe what you do is right.
But is it really peace when you instill it with a weapon?
Mighty as an armor.
Loyal as a dog.
Body like a cannon, with lead that shine.
I see it by your side.
Ready and loaded to do your will.
Ready to do what's right.
But is it really eradicating what you call crime?
Or is it just fueling the fire?
Go ahead one last time draw your weapon to your side.
Draw your weapon that shouts out goodbyes.
Go ahead draw that weapon that took a friend of mine.
He was Innocent, yet your act is not a crime.
Just another black man, who resisted so you felt threatened then you ended his life.
Out of sight out of mind.
With your weapon you are just and right.
With your weapon You stand above life.
So tell me one last time
Is it really peace when you instill it with a weapon?

Author's Note
not so long ago a police man shot someone and killed someone i know (my friend), he was unarmed and posed zero harm, but he was shot anyway and all his family and friends got was just an apology that it was an honest mistake the cop was just doing his duty...…. now I ask myself is this the real reason why they carry guns to bring peace or to instill fear?
