Reflection
More lines in the mirror now
More gray every day
But hard to see
Past the thin skin
I saw a physician
Asked him to look inside
Find my sickness
He had to cut deep
Get past the bullshit
It wasn't pretty
It really fucking hurt
And he found something
An ugliness like cancer
Real as any tumor
Said he could cut it out
That I could be saved
Healthy inside now
But still feeling sick
Hope he got it all
More gray every day
But hard to see
Past the thin skin
I saw a physician
Asked him to look inside
Find my sickness
He had to cut deep
Get past the bullshit
It wasn't pretty
It really fucking hurt
And he found something
An ugliness like cancer
Real as any tumor
Said he could cut it out
That I could be saved
Healthy inside now
But still feeling sick
Hope he got it all

Re. Reflection
Spot-on metaphor, Madinda.
No one can avoid toxic situations or aging. The grey hairs and wrinkles come regardless of moisturizer or dye. The situations give rise to action such as spiritual surgery or bitter stagnancy.
The pain from such treatment takes time to heal from. As to whether it was completely removed, you will only know that when tested again.

And everywhere I look, I see the writing on the wall.
It's so unbelievably relevant to me that you used both the terms "spiritual surgery" and "bitter stagnancy".
Signs, signs, everywhere signs.

This is spot on, but for me a life long process. It helps if I care less of what others think of me(hard) and even what 'I think of me' and more about how God through the Holy Spirit views me and wants me to be! But your "reflection" for all of us is a great inspiration, personally, thank you!
