Seasons change
Impatiently waiting
Summer soon about to fade
still hot winds are blowing
last breath of a season
the soil awaits the seed
River bed sand runs
through my fingers
decomposed matter added
fertile ground will soon
give birth to tender life
When seedlings open
first delicate leaves
like little arms opening
to greet the light
with it will come
new energy
new joy
new ideas
new poems
Impatiently waiting
Summer soon about to fade
still hot winds are blowing
last breath of a season
the soil awaits the seed
River bed sand runs

decomposed matter added
fertile ground will soon
give birth to tender life
When seedlings open

like little arms opening
to greet the light
with it will come
new energy
new joy
new ideas
new poems
Impatiently waiting

Thank you Matthew. Yes, I teared up a bit when I wrote that. They look so much like little people when they just made it out of the seed. I am glad you too appreciate the image.

It's such a perfect way to say it, and yet there's both a little hope, and a little sadness about the little arms! Great writing! I love it!

Hi Angelast,
No worries, try our website:
https://thehumusproject.org/
(it's in 4 languages, German included)
PS: Don't get back on FB - I'm looking for an opportune time to get off it - 3 years on it is long enough for me.

Yes, here in the desert, once summer fades the rest of the year feels indeed like spring. Life resumes.

This reminds me of a performance piece, since it maps out the journey into the next season. You are no novice.

Happy first day of autumn ... this poem captures so much of what I feel ... I am both ready for fall ... but sad to see summer go ...

Yes, autumn....wonderful. That's like spring for me here in the desert. As I recall you are in Alabama, right? Do you have a real autumn with colored leaves?
The last days of summer for me are like pushing the envelope to the max. Then....there is the relief...the nights will get cooler...activity is coming back....rejoyce!

Not a real autumn ... I used to live in Maryland ... the leaves do change ... must later ... not as vibrant ... the most beautiful foliage I have seen was in Vermont and Mont Tremblant Canada ... still rather hot ... upper 90s today ... I do look forward to cooler weather ...
