Standing In the Rain
For me her eyes have lost that shine
Love is gone, dead on the vine
Perhaps both of us have lost our verve
Or could be I get what I deserve
I follow her glory with rapt eyes
Recalling all my abject lies
She then denies I've done my best
It seems that I have failed her test
It could be falsehoods, or the drugs
When I ask she simply shrugs
Can't shame her when she won't explain
And leaves me standing in the rain
Love is gone, dead on the vine
Perhaps both of us have lost our verve
Or could be I get what I deserve
I follow her glory with rapt eyes
Recalling all my abject lies
She then denies I've done my best
It seems that I have failed her test
It could be falsehoods, or the drugs
When I ask she simply shrugs
Can't shame her when she won't explain
And leaves me standing in the rain
