Daffodil

the beauty in you shines
it's untarnished
you speak from a true source
of truth unblemished

you don't care if the world doesn't like it
honesty real honesty
seems to be frowned upon in our culture
but you serve it without flinching

you have a sharp blade
not dulled by the world's views
you see the facts of things clearly
I laughed at myself that I didn't see earlier

us pushy little people
all whining about nothing
greedy little children
throwing a fit cause we didn't get a piece of candy

it's ridiculous really
I'm guiltier than most
when it comes to this bad behavior
it's inexcusable

slap handcuffs on my thoughts
because I'm spreading immaturity
damn it I feel bare where my fanny took a good beating

raw truth served with a slice of how do you like those apples?

I love it really I do
I wanted to tell you
just how much respect I have for you
