Eye locked lovers
in a moonlit garden.
stolen snickerdoodle cookie
in the AM kitchen.
paused paws,
i'm a dog in the act.
couldn't afford the rug this life stood on if I tried,
and I tried.
patience amidst the pestilence
yet I scratch at the door for more.
