i knew a funeral director/undertaker named Doris Amen.  Can't say as that was her real name. Also ample evidence that she was trans-gender or crossdresser. She bought the Jurek Funeral Home on 4th Ave. & 23rd Street, just 1/2block from where i lived pre-11 yrs old..  The occasion was the passing of my Aunt Stella (Godmother) in 2007. She lived in the same buildng that we did until 1963. She was my 2nd mother),  (Stella, not Doris)
          Leah had accompanied me on that trip.
Yup. Doris Amen. Sat next to me at the post-funeral dinner.. Had funny stories of her own about growing up in Brooklyn about same time as me & how she got into the mortuary biz.  
She was about 6'2', big blonde hair, not a bad 'figure', good looking legs, spoke in a low, somewhat gravely voice.Actually I was somewhat attracted to her, until i began to suspect that maybe she wasn't a 'real' woman.......who knows?  Ain't my business.    Dear Doris Amen. Have meant to give her a call sometime. See if she's still in business. Guess I could look it up on the interweb.
