Image for the poem Remnants

Remnants

So much for the shattered glass
Stained, and left in colored shards
Blood seeping between the boards
Then lapped up by cellar dogs

But it all makes perfect sense
The crowd outside, clad in mauve
Confer as to the clearest way
To give the solemn clown his due

Angels weep and fail to see
The residue in empty pews
All away for sunken days
Gab sessions over jasmine tea

Ever child, desperate gods
Queue up to taste relentlessly
Flesh served by the waiter de
And dumped in some fat matron's lap

The effete hunker on the floor
Waiting for the random scrap
Carnivores outside the door
Pause, reflect, sensing a trap.

Thought I'd try something beyond my usual rhyme and story hatching. Surreal, and possibly senseless.
