Veiled Beauty
If I ask you where you are going
If I remind you where you've been
Would you deny what's exposed and showing?
Would you complain that I am being mean?
The next time I call you nothing will be new
`Cos you'll never show what's inside your heart
Cover up the love repressed inside of you
You're a pretty painting, not a work of art
From the direction your life has been going
Nothing surprises me that I've seen
Hide away what you don't want them knowing
Spray paint over an artistic scene
Pretending you know where you're are going
Avoiding the Hell where you've been
Realize there is no perfection
To be found within the perfect scene

Okay completely unrelated, but I want to say thanks for the crit. I needed it. I often just run with the ideas and post them without stopping to properly go through them. (I get that excited every time I finish a poem). So no, I don't hate you, and I truly am grateful for you taking the time to go through that poem. It'll help make me a better writer. So again, thank you.

Ohwwww, now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but don't tell anyone I said that, I will deny it!
I never thought you would actually hate me, but sometimes I worry about getting too technical or long winded. I've had people ask me for that and then got mad at me. Then I get the, "That's the way I wrote it and I'm not changing a thing" responce. I think that one was the most detailed I ever did, so I was a little nervous how you would take it. And I am glad you think it might help make you a better writer, kinda makes me feel like the good old days at school, though I'm not so sure they were interested in more homework, lol... jj

Veiled beauty seems to be about someone who wants to come out and be seen and yet is afraid to show the real person. This person must have been treated hard by life, Poetryman.
Thanks for commenting Grace, For the most part, yes. Though she liked going out and being seen, she used a lot of make-up and wore a suitecase of clothes she thought looked nice. It was all too much, she was hiding in plain sight.
