lashings
with arscenic laced
tongue
rogue
they said
and
you agreed
soaked deep
in the same
arescenic reflections
and it worked
wonders
till
he came
he saw
he laughed
and
laughed
a bit harder
louder and louder
till he laughed his heart out
and left
and when it stopped
you felt the silence
though the tinnitus
in your ear
sounded otherwise
in deafening tone

Author's Note
a commentary on gore and grotesque though perfectly right and impactful, but like any other powerful weapon, unintended victims can be scarred for life - this ink an antivenom to treat in case of a venomous bite.
Though the tone may sound negative- it is not directed at any friend or (as percieved by anyone) foe or peer. An observation on poetry NOT poets.

Every poet has their timbre, no two alike. Their voices arise from various places and causes and inspirations. Not every voice suits every ear. And that's as it should be, one of the things I love about poetry. And there are many poems/poets that I simply cannot read as their words tickle unhealed gashes and hurt my heart. But I respect their voice for itself, if not for the message. I like this poem for looking at the other side of words and their power.

and yes.
and one single no, this is not for the vents, and releases that we all, including this very inker and this very ink do. As said in the Author's note, the unintended victims can be scarred for life. Some may say grow a thicker skin, but when? after it is too late?
what is poetry if not for healing and that goes for both the poet and the reader. And yes, many situations do need painful medicine, and some are indeed in deep need of them. But, like any other medication, should be confined to as needed basis not substituted for the nourishing juices that sustain and enhance life. And yes, my respect is for the voice, and the right to voice and yes may not always for the individual opinions expressed though fully respect the right to air those.
and yes my friend...that is the gist, the power of words. as with any, best when used responsibly.

yes...we have the right to ink as we please, just a case of exercising responsible freedom of speech...under which this great and devastatingly effective art that is poetry, comes.
No need to self sensor, or to curb the originality just to please anyone, sometimes, as humans we go too far. It's just about asking self before going ahead again and again, the question- the cause and effect/affect thing, the action and consequence thing. I know from close some people, hurt by words, that are scarred for life, though the utterers were just using words, but for the recipients, they're the forever impaling arrows that never cede the ground they're dug in.
If art wasn't therapeutic, especially the art of poetry, this site would'nt even dare i say exist let alone flourish, can never under-state the importance of venting and releasing the pent-up emotions/feelings/frustrations. Only in cases of where vitriol is the only mode the artist is stuck in does this poem apply, to try and look on the positives and use the arrows on as need basis. Surely, one cannot be at war every second of the life, there is surely a time, when the guns need to be put away, the swords need to return to their sheaths.
This goes to the un-intended victims of such daggers, who happen to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
