A LA PLAYA - A Villanelle
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach
So elegant, so statuesque, goddess of the waves
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach
Spanish guitar serenade punctuated by seagull's screech
Romantic Sun radiates the heat her body craves
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach
Alluring smile, Venus curves beauties gospel preach
Imagining the seductive scene my every thought enslaves
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach
Caressing breeze, sand, and the sea relaxation teach
Free from worry, free from care, free from office caves
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach
Bare breasted, euro-style, bikini bottoms a shade of peach
Conjured pictures flood the brain while body misbehaves
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach
Vacation sadly over now “*Once more unto the breach.”
I continue the mundane, she sweet memory saves
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach

Love a good Villanelle, nice subject matter. The longing for the coast, I know the feeling having moved inland a few years ago.

Thank you Teri! This took time to write. It's a fun challenging style. I second guessed the "neural net" part because that represents the nervous system a so I thought would cerebral net be better. I stuck with neural because that's where feeling comes from. Your comments always make me happy and encouraged.

I am glad you like it...so the next snowy/blizzardy day take it from its "In case of emergency strike here" box and read it with a nice big mug of "Abuelita."
