I'm The Artist
Be weary when dating an artist
She will fall for you hard and fast
She will fall for the little details of yourself you didn't know existed
Like when you laugh, her heart will flutter when she sees the creases in the corner of your eyes
How when you kiss her, your fingers tap lightly on the small of her back
She'll become too much to handle
Be careful when dating an artist because she will lock herself away for days on end
Lying with the disease of artist block
It feels like detoxing off the best drug in the world
She wants just one more hit
She will show millions of people in a gallery her paintings
But never you
Because your opinion is the only one that really matters
You now have this power, and you could destroy her if you wanted
Or simply on accident
And destroy her you will
Be careful when dating an artist
She doesn't know how to say no to drugs
And when you leave her alone, she'll drown herself in liquor
She'll drunkenly curse your name for making her love you
She'll curse herself for letting herself open up this tattered heart of hers
She'll be hungover for your date the next day
Be careful when dating an artist because it won't last
The little manic attributes of her that made you fall for her will now chip away at your patience
Girls like this were only meant to be brief moments of history filled with stories and adventures
And meant to fall apart like dying flowers
Once beautiful if looked with rose-tinted glasses but soon to be nothing more then dust
You will become another playlist of songs under the category "Ex's"
Be careful when dating an artist
Her art will still hang on your wall
Because you cant get these fingers of yours to wrap themselves around the canvas and take them down
There's a part of you that will still love her
And her whole heart aches for you everyday
To appreciate presence, we have to accept absence
She will fall for you hard and fast
She will fall for the little details of yourself you didn't know existed
Like when you laugh, her heart will flutter when she sees the creases in the corner of your eyes
How when you kiss her, your fingers tap lightly on the small of her back
