Her

Watching form a distance
I see her failing.
She can't do this
won't do that.
She's shutting down.
Nobody notices
as the grades drop
and apathy rises
things that used to matter
aren't that important to her anymore.
She won't try anymore.
She thinks life is not worth living anymore.
She sits, she stares, she sleeps.
Writes a few lines, does a few papers.
Sometimes she bothers to act her part,
but more often she stumbles around in a woken sleep.
I watch her fail.
I watch her die.
She watches me,

with empty eyes.
