The Feeling of You
When you have wrapped your arms
Around me, your low gravelly voice
Whispering good morning as alarms
Go off. If I were given the choice
I want to lie in bed with you all day,
Better than when you have to leave
And not knowing if you would stay
Again. In that quiet moment I grieve
The soft sound of your voice and
The way your touch keeps me warm
At night. The tracing of your hand
Against skin and clothes, an art form
I would never get tired of. One face
And a body I will never get tired of
Watching. We are coming to a place
We call home and we also call it love.
Around me, your low gravelly voice
Whispering good morning as alarms
Go off. If I were given the choice
I want to lie in bed with you all day,
Better than when you have to leave
And not knowing if you would stay
Again. In that quiet moment I grieve
The soft sound of your voice and
The way your touch keeps me warm
At night. The tracing of your hand
Against skin and clothes, an art form
I would never get tired of. One face
And a body I will never get tired of
Watching. We are coming to a place
We call home and we also call it love.
