silence paralysis
help me, I am paralyzed
I cannot call my arms
the black beings fall down
my bedroom paint and smile their harm
help me; when I kick my legs out
neither moves at all,
and terror's fingers tighten
round my throat to kill my call;
the panic I would sweat
instead helps shade slip down my walls;
helps drool the starlight glistens in
slide quicker from their jaws:
help me; I am paralyzed,
they slither on the ground;
my heart can only shudder
through this night deserving pounds,
and my sleeping neck awaits their teeth
or dawn before they pounce.
