The Only Way Home

If there should come a moment      
that you feel like quitting      
( such as that time you did      
for lack of encouragement      
from those you loved )      
     
This round      
You don't give up      
     
You absorb the kick      
and remember      
why you are doing this      
     
And for who      
     
Weeks may pass, months      
you may hear from no one      
     
Invest in more sketch paper     
don't lay that pencil down      
     
Some people will come along      
piggy back for what they can gain      
       
Erase them and seek those      
with genuine Spirits      
     
Others will belittle you      
because they can't understand      
your multidimensions      
     
Don't keep quiet. . .      
     
Show them why it matters      
how hard you stand behind it      
     
If you are tired and hungry      
drink a cup of coffee      
sharpen pencils for dinner      
     
But press on; Go      
     
There will be times you are sick      
but people need you      
so you show up regardless      
     
Remember when your father died      
and you felt like folding it all in      
But you remembered what he stood for      
and held that space to stand      
     
When you feel hopeless      
or that you don't matter again      
be grateful that you've learned      
to create fire in the darkness      
     
When you feel worthless      
or in no place to assist others      
realize you've been there before      
and can help guide them through      
     
There may be times      
You feel like a joke;
a fool of futile attempts

Show them your goal      
is no laughing matter      
     
Nor are the animals      
depending on you      
     
If you want to get to where you're going      
You go and go      
and you go      
realizing there is no end to it all      
     
Because the goal is to GO      
     
You go despite circumstance      
You go despite not feeling Loved      
You go despite lack of Faith      
     
You go because it's what feels right      
beneath everyone else's judgment      
     
Under your own misgivings      
the Next Thing beats Truth      
across its stretched skin of drum      
guiding You out of the jungle      
     
Now ask me "How?"      
when nothing's going right      
     
I'll tell You:      
     
Because deep down you know the way      
and You're still trying to go by asking me      
     
So. . .GO
