the rush

the brakes are faulty
& i'm speeding up
I know my limits, I know my limits,
I'm not slowing down,
not for a second, no.

Like a drive down highway
66,
the smooth straights meet rough swerves that
catch me unaware...
I could see it, but didn't want to,
didn't want to feel it.

There's the crash, it comes
just when the
world goes mute -
& no one else can hear it;

where are the streetlights when we need them?

I have made myself
an expected visitor of
the silence that met me
after it all,

farewell, i bid,
farewell
