3 'ku
I lie here alone
under a cloudless night sky
with fallen black plums
the moon's mask of light
casts no shadow where I sleep
in solo orbit
never so alone
than a warm night of crickets
that sing not for me
for a competition
under a cloudless night sky
with fallen black plums
the moon's mask of light
casts no shadow where I sleep
in solo orbit
never so alone
than a warm night of crickets
that sing not for me
for a competition

aces: cold plums in Carlos Williams' icebox;
dark side of the moon, how we wonder;
where do the songs go, who makes a hemp shirt of them...

Re: Re. 3 'ku
Thank you dear John for your (always) poetic responses to my poetry. I've been long time away rehabilitating from a terrible accident. Little by little, since I've come home, will you see bits of me in my new expressions gleaned from what I've been through, until my strength in everything I had returns, but never to the way it was. My thoughts to you, hoping all is going well. ~~Jade

Thank you dearly, sweet koshka. I am a stranger here until someone like you, especially like you, welcomes something about myself that reminds me that I must still be alive. Embracing you in a moment of joy ~~Jadey xox

Hello dear friend Anon. I've been away, and have missed you. I recognize very little here while I try most days to struggle back and fail other days. Yet it's like that with many who have yet to be swallowed whole. This is my way of saying that there's so much about this planet of humanity that I also don't recognize. So what do I do? I write. Thankful that I seem to be able to still do that, albeit tentatively. Thank you so much for your words about my words. ~~Jadey xo

I thought about entering that comp last night after I saw it but I don't think I could reduce my feelings on loneliness to 3 haiku's. How wonderful to see you have returned but sad in the emotions of being alone. You have expressed it very well Jade! Best wishes in the comp and better wishes in life! JJ

Thank you, my dear friend Joe, to see your words waiting for me! As for my expression(s) on loneliness in the space of three haiku, I merely touch upon a facet of such feelings which are as fragile as I remain now that I'm home. For me, Haiku & Tanka are tools that are meant to tend living growing things. I'm not up to building a structure, but when I wrote these 3 'ku, I had enough of myself, just enough of my poet's voice that was able to rise to the occasion. I thank you for stopping by to welcome what presence I've managed to share with you. Please take care. We'll talk again.

It's lovely to see you, Naajir. I've been gone a long time and find myself a stranger in a strange land as I try to regain some of myself after a terrible accident that I have no memory of. I thank you so much for coming by and gifting me with your presence. I hope all has been well. What strength I had is now sapped so I will need to go rest soon. with warmest regards, Jadey

Just how many great poets are there in this place? I think we should kick the internet in the groin and publish a book.

the night smokey chokes
un-felt the moon casts no light
one dove morns in song
I stumble hot dark steps
the house creaks and snaps old age
the mouse shares its dance
I catch your rummings
reading your words my ears hear
lone cat seeks tiger
I love that you returned in "short form" that you love. I a feel your alone-ness in every breath, in every letter. Welcome back, Jadey. What a graceful and beautiful return.

Thank you so much, dear Thomas cat, for helping me feel graceful while I teeter through each day that I try to reclaim what I'm able of myself. You've understood what it's like for many reasons you've shared with me. Your embrace of my feeble efforts gives me better light to see by. ~~your queen is back

The sadness is palpable because there’s beauty all around yet loneliness and crickets that sing, though not for you. Exceptional, Jade.
