Loneliness

Loneliness cuts through you like Ice,
Deeper than the coldest knife.

Standing by the frosted window,
Watching him go -
She cannot control the sobbing;
Despondent tears staining her face.

Years of happiness all over in a second,
It felt like the grim reaper had ripped her heart out.

As the light fades, so does any hope,
Left alone to cope.
Why, how, what,
What did she do or not do,
Will she ever know?

Darkness closes in around her as she sits,
Rocking in the corner, thinking this is it.
How long will this loneliness last,
A day, a month, a year, forever?

Who knows.
