She walks down the trail so tattered and torn,
Where for her in the trees they viciously wait,
Their eyes pierce the darkness, it's only a matter of time,
Until they fly violently down to seal her fate...

Shattered deeply, her inscrutable smile still falters,
Bitter thoughts of despair and of pain and mistrust,
Perched dormant on the wall in the potters field,
Where all her dreams have reluctantly been marred and been crushed...

In the darkness the fog and dew settle,
On the peaks of the closed iron gates,
Her silky black hair spun like a widows web,
Soddenly drapes her shoulders as she apprehensively waits...

She knows that they are up there and watching,
Just waiting for her to concede,
She has heard the legends so many times,
That when you come to this forest you'll never leave...

Her tears fall silently out of anger and of shame,
An endless tale of catastrophic failures endured,
Her chants like the elegy to the souls of the dead,
Led her to the dark forest where all visions are blurred...

A sullen reminder of a forsaken past,
In a long ago forgotten place,
Cast out inhibitions that are inclined to oppose,
Desolation reigns unmistakably on her dispirited face...

There is no turning back the damage finally done,
They injected the bite and she bleeds,
The legend is true that once you come to this place,
The dark forest where they dwell you will never leave...

She sees darkened shadows through the souls of the dead,
Surrounding the memories that chill to the core,
Caress the night sky as the moon turns to red,
Confined to the darkness now and forevermore...
