The Bedlam Inside

This placid demeanor wearing thin
The calm exterior showing cracks
Necrotic thoughts of retribution
A war declared and arrows launched
Dreams shattered and nightmares hatched
The madness ever-growing
The roller ride of fucked up emotions
And someone murmuring "That too shall pass.."

This smile is stitched on every day
Keeping up appearances, a sweet façade
Still a wastrel in a wasted land
The illusion of being a-ok
When, one by one, the strings are cut
The lifeline being last.
