A Day in the Life
dawning of a new day
or close of a day spent
I feel an excitement
matters not, matters not
I am but passersby
I’m here for an instant
gone for an eternity
if I think upon thought
and let it die slow death
I rob thought of substance
I walk through the swamp
a sense of quiet takes hold
what used to make me sad
I pause on my journey
find a gnarled cypress root
sit upon it
listen to nature's song
don't know how I got here
don't know how long I will stay
I enjoy the moment
as I empty my thoughts
of what I used to think
about sincerity
pettiness put aside
I breathe in earth's perfume
listen to nature's voice
the beauty surrounds me
mists from slow-moving creek
the aroma of pine
where bottom feeders go
