Hard Man
you sauntered up
wore your best words
laid them out before me
poetry your native tongue
those damned lines
licked at my soul
kindled a fire
from tinder
that was all but ash
made me burn hot
with a country twang
in your voice
you inspired me
to love the land
hard as your rugged hands
you taught me so much
no nonsense
reminded me
of my own dad
you don't put up with
the shit that passes
as truth in empty words
you can't stand the bull
no games
no messing around
you don't have time for it
with favorites & the like
I watch you quietly
you think I can't learn
though I have
so much from your
simple silence
it speaks volumes
in its depths
I am reprimanded

"it" certainly does, but perhaps not in the way one might imagine in one's "ordinary(default[ed]) mind

Sometimes people who cross our path become a teacher (sometimes without even knowing it)
This is such a beautiful tribute, dear Crim! Much enjoyed!

the hardness comes out in the writing
whether it's called poetry or just the story of a man;
you're among the women who see it, Crim...

My Beautiful Brenda...the kudos you give the poet speak loudly...there are some in this world that aren't aware just how much people like us can "hear" even when there is silence...it's a language all its own...loved this my love!
I love you!
