I struggled a bit on the ending, and after such a great read I didn't want to.  I've reread it a few times trying to get a rhythmic flow and feel it would flow better as such:

you might have to be open
to the idea of allowing yourself
to unpain slowly.

Overall I really enjoyed the read and philosophy within it. Loving oneself is paramount for healthy borders lest you become a doormat for others.

Thanks again for the feed-back Ahavati. I feel your suggestion improves it. I find the openness of free verse more difficult to get the general balance right so that the poem works well in the reader's mind; following a strict rhythm & rhyme has its own challenges but I experience it as somewhat 'safer'.

Excellent revision. However, to lose one of the "to's" I'd still suggest.

I'm unsure about the spaces. While the tercet definitely needs to be set apart from the verse as a whole, it might be too far set from itself.   Anyway. I'll shut up now. Thanks for the read.
