Travelling on familiar Highway

Tears most time come unbidden
rivulets on cheeks flowing acids
stings though nothing matches
the ache of nudging  memories

I allowed the stars to burn
with vain demands and selfishness
what burden to bear the weighty dreams
that crave to be fulfilled

the skirts of my gown are soiled
with passionate and ardent desire
from the dust of my feet
that wish to traverse the mind’s stark plain

the echoes of dead ones’ voices
long ago laughter of happiness
bereaved the mourners’  dirges
and I on the stage abandoned

maybe the slate will be cleaned
when all the stars above die
when the sky is as empty as I
that abandon this body and fly.
