Of scarlet rapture: I'm that woman
I ache for that which is unattainable
and far above the clouds the air is dangerously thin.
Easterly winds breathe a lover's sigh
that echoes through sunbaked canyons.
They chisel away at the mightiest of stones
leaving behind dusty runes
to be erased by passings of time.
The Spanish sunset is a vivid paragon in bloom,
and although my hands are cold and empty,
my heart beats like desert rhythms.
Only through my tears can
the colors be more complex,
the augmented reflections of passion
returning ashes to flame.
Fall of night casts a net
of stars upon my soul
and I swing my bare feet recklessly
over the sheer edge of desire.

you envision it & write it dangerously, Kas,
growing flames of passion
that you rush to barefoot;
beautifully barefoot...
growing flames of passion
that you rush to barefoot;
beautifully barefoot...

Flames of passion that keep
my feet as bare as my heart.
Thank you for such beautifully
poetic words, John; you really know
how to make a girl smile...
my feet as bare as my heart.

The world inside your mind is amazing! You create such beautiful imagery with your words that it leaves me breathless. The dangling of bare feet, such a perfect example of carefree moments. And your landscape, so vibrant and stark, but all the more beautiful because of that. I am again in awe. :)

Such an amazing comment,Willow, very sweet of you.
I guess having our heads in the clouds isn't
as terrible as we were made to believe.
I'm so glad I could share my vision with you
and I thank you for visiting...

Kasai, first the pic with this is just perfect...then while reading this my heart actually raced a bit...the ache, it is so felt through this and the end gave me goosebumps...the thought of sitting on that "edge" there (back to the pic) frightened hell from me...afraid of heights but reckless and in love is the old saying, no? Beautifully done as always...

I really loved this pic and knew when I found it
that I had to use it.
And yes, reckless and in love, you picked up on it
exactly how it was written. I, too am afraid of heights
so I think that it worked well, that terrifying feeling of
danger that we challenge when in love.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts,
sweet lady!

That picture immediately 'got' me! It suits the poem so well...
The imagery in this one is stunning, especially in the last stanza!
Edge of desire > wow... just wow...

Indeed, Crim, you've seen the words perfectly
just as they were written.
Thank you for stopping in to share, kind lady...

I Liked this earlier but had to let the sun set on it so I could reflect in the shade. This is beautifully done, Kasai. The somber mood, the yearning, the imagery. I love canyons and you've depicted one perfectly here. We climb above it all in yearning and somehow still fall below in our humanness.

The warm winds weather the stone, making it softer. Nice, reflective, melancholic read. It's the first one of yours I read.
