Being Numb Is Dangerous

I saw a post
On facebook today.
As stupid as it sounded
"Being a savage doesn't
Fix that hole in your heart"
Resonated with me
In a way Im less
Than comfortable with.
This heart of mine
Is nothing but
A long forgotten wreckage.
Who we used to be is such
A distant memory
All I can remember is pain
And I question
Why I couldn't
Make you love me.
And yet I still
won't allow myself
To acknowledge
Just how detrimental
Those years were
I finally understand

Being numb is dangerous
You fool yourself
Into thinking youre living
Even though its already
Been years since
You've  left this life.
