Just a Few Thoughts

uh, have you noticed
the amount and diversity
of convoluted saviors
in this crazy, screwed up world
lately?
Islam, the religion of peace
wants to save me
or kill me
don't think it really matters to them
the fat guy
Buddha is putting in his two cents worth
for my warped soul
if he only knew what he was in for
but, hey!
they're all over the place
Rome and its emissaries
gotta give 'em credit
are everywhere
a few even got cooked in the pot
in the wilds of Africa
before they taught them not to do that
(psst! some of 'em still do)
the Baptist
ah, I can talk about the Baptist
raised up in the religion
small town Arkansas
Peyton Place?
you bet, but dropped the greenbacks in the plate
on Sunday

oh, the stories I could tell
about the Sunday School teacher

anyway
we have the Episcopalians
whatever they are
Presbyterian and Methodist
Judaism, they are in the game
I've missed some
uh huh, I know
doesn’t matter, now does it?
they all seek to alter the course of your life
for the good of YOU
and ALL mankind
(or is it personkind?
can't seem to keep all that straight)
all these religions
so many of them saying basically the same thing
well, maybe Islam
takes it a bloody step further
God; Allah; Buddha, et al
can save you from yourself
I can understand that
I can see where doing unto others
as you would have them do unto you
can be beneficial

why then
do we not accept these deities
we see so frequently?
oh
I understand that we join churches
synagogues and the like
but do we really just join in name only?
and go about our daily lives
ignoring how we have been taught to act
toward our fellowman/woman/other



sad to see
very sad to see
the only religion
I can detect out there
whose devotees are true believers
are the Muslims
they are as one with their Allah

someday
when it is too late
we will fully
understand that
