still outraged by this theft
they took you early
such a sensitive vulnerable soul
they put themselves into you
maybe even before you were born
and now you're chained to their ways
doesn't matter though
I will bring you back
may take many passages of time

Earlier reference was to the buffalo soldier; hits home on a more personal level with a good friend whose husband was a part of the first military campaign in Iraq. They are still trying to work out the dynamics of their relationship. Before he left, they were planning to buy a house, have children. Now they are just trying to get through "issues" still being a couple.
I'm glad the poem touched you on such a personal level. But then again what is poetry for. Thanks for elaborating on the earlier comment.
