pointless observations of meaningless things {i}
{v}
the holy man & his sacred bottle of evian
can fuck off for all i care.
bless you
{like you achoo'd}
like it'd do anyone any kinda good
{iv}
i did not see
your grief then
& now it's as tho
i am witnessing
something personal
& obscene
something shameful
that i have
no business seeing
{iii}
you are more preoccupied
than i am
with her rosebud lips
in shades of cerulean,
her papyrus skin
marbled like raw beef...
... i did not look
too closely
this time
{ii}
& i have frozen
unencumbered
by tears
my lungs unable
to fill with enough air
to scream
it's only fair
{i}
i watered the plants
because someone had to
& it would be a shame
if something else died in my care
the holy man & his sacred bottle of evian
can fuck off for all i care.
bless you

Katja, it is good to read your thoughts again. This is a stark, foreboding piece filled with style only you can achieve. Brava!

<3 Some things make us feel as though we should've had control, but we never were actually anywhere near the drivers seat.

ah, i'm under no illusion,
i've not even been
a passenger for some time ...
... i'm sort of like a dog
running behind the car

That's because your seat was stolen from you. If you could only find another place to sit comfortably... With all my heart I hope you do one day, because the world wouldn't be the same without you...

I used my inbred dyslexic talents to read this...
The hair on my arms stood up
Tears filled my eyes.
You'll have to wait for critique of value. I need to deel with the message you've filled the naked page with.
The morse code is fighteningly well placed.

I take it there was a death in a family or circle of friends, and someone has been held accountable and blamed. This aspect of grief is all to common. "Pointless," if I'm right, looks at this grim scene and adds your sardonic sense of humor, much needed. This really hit a nerve in me due to recent events so I might be doing some projecting. Fine work as always Katya.

I like this though I'm not sure why. It may have something to do with the numbering... a countdown of sorts culminating in the rescue of houseplants. There are days when the lifeforms I can tolerate best are plants...

Dammit. Just dammit.
This is marbled with a stoned sorrow that women understand. The encryption of a sisterhood so ancient nothing petty can survive compassionate support.
I am so happy you're back. Thank you for the read.

When the promise of spring
is strangled by the grip of an artic winter
without the benefit of summer days & autumn nights
it can rip the very marrow from our bones
leaving us more fragile that a flower to the flame
raw carved open & exposed to the thorns
may be the only way to heal
I felt this where the well meets the water-Terry

without the benefit of summer days & autumn nights

Cold. I like it cold. I like heat that is cold. This is that. Cold fury.

Scattered yet untouched, your poem felt like a very accurate description of grief…
