Mascot
(in celebration of its debut...)
Can't say that it's nice,
its life underground.
What a cute little 'scot
popping up to say "hi",
looking 'round for a po'm
coming up from the Deep.
But I love how the
burrowing worm's
nether end is an
ink-spewing nib!
It hasn't a name
but now there's a face!

A word from the worm:
I've never had a name before,
I dreamed of the day when I would.
It's dark where I live to work for
Your expression to breathe as it should.

Ahh, thank you, sweet Grace...
what fun it was to let my words take flight as my impression of our new wriggly friend started to breathe.😄

It's a clever play on both how a worm digs through the soil, and the name Doug.

Thank you, dear Geoffrey, you have me grinning at how my little ditty has given you cheer. And oh yes, his spikey punk 'hawk, such fun!

I hope it never has a name. Somethings are best simply admired without labels. xo
Very nice tribute write, Jade.
