Remembering

fragrance shifted the memories
ashes on strange highways stirred
dirges sang faintly swelled
orchestral murmurs of yesterdays

glass shattered on rainbow path
blood on footprints on porous sand
dreams in remembrance of ornate hopes
swinging on curved colours in the wind
there my senses journeyed
holding yesterday's bouquet

dried fallen petals potpourri of faith
strewn on paths and trodden
glass slippers both shattered
left untouched under old stairs
no prince mourned the fled princess
I wept leaning against forgotten balustrades

river golden with strewn leaves
dropped off from ancient trees
seats on ground sealed with mildew
smiles almost forgotten lingered unseen
of hands held and hearts entwined
I traced the faded scars

Journeying through silver skies
eyes closed against the lights
...just a few more breaths
and home I'll soon be.
