The Curve of The Waves
The larger the waves, the deeper the footprints.
We sunk our feet
Our bodies, whole
Our tongues, fishhooks
Hairs of seaweeds, snakes slithering, shedding s(k)in
Convincing ourselves we were rooted
Rejected by sea
It’s another afternoon
and another spring
the sun shines aimlessly
of no consequence
secrets secreting
with each silver strand
do not disturb
traditions, patterns
ebb and flo
feeding the hunger
love & hate
consuming fury
tides washing
over stones
and I wait
in blissful ignorance
knowing the unkown
somewhere your smile
is as warm as the sunrise
flirting with breeze
tickling my toes in shores
to the sunset of my years.

We're both near the ocean Brenda, I think it's in our blood, the scent embedded in our skin.
Thank you beautiful one :)

I read a poem by Robert Kelly that remains with me throughout
the years when I stray from acceptance to desire. It referenced
the knowing of someone that we love's existence out there being
enough. To know they still exist is enough.
The ocean reminds us all of this in its own vast voice as it
touches both where they are, and us at the same time.
Like the wind, the sun, the moon, the stars.
Acceptance is a flow; desire is an undercurrent.
Together they are balance.
Lovely write, Vee.

I've learned that in life we go through the 5 stages of mourning, be it mundane or relationships.
There's always sadness in acceptance but the gain is lifting of the burden of weight from the chest and opening the windows of the mind.
Although, everyone deals with it in their own pace.
In the end, it is what it is...
Thank you Ahavati for your insightful comment.

This is lovely, Vee
I've been feeling the pull of the ocean lately and
this confirmed I need to plan a weekend very soon! There's a magical sense of faith in these lines that makes my soul feel good.
Thanks :)

There's something cleansing about it, satisfying all the senses. I'm originally from the Mediterranean coast and it keeps drawing me back, its home, its where i want to sink my feet and let gravity pull me in.
Miki, I hope you enjoy the sun, the waves, the cool waters and to come back and write about it.

your images make us inhabitants of the ocean;
being weightless, just to float for awhile...

Re. The Curve of The Waves
Yet another gem, Vee. Such amazing imagery, I felt as though I were sinking in a great sand, swallowed by the miniscule nature of my existence. Quite a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Sometimes it is just that, we seem to be drowning before we realize we've drowned already.

Lovely writing, I've become a fan of your style...
Critique: I'm unsure if you meant this or if it's a typo. I don't believe the S is necessary, but you may have your reasons...

I love this poem Rina...I'm sensing some deep underlying meaning here...With the s(k)in, rejected, disturbing the ebb and flo...As if outcast by shame...Or I can be completely wrong 🤐🤔

It's about closure actually, letting go of something which was never ours to begin with and moving on :)

A day at the beach, feeling the warmth reflects to the cold loss of it...the bright sun and silk pleasure of it in the sand is never forgotten, when away from it -we can never feel as cold, lost and hungry-A yearning Write Babe!!!

The ocean is a wonderful analogy for all things which do not belong, wrong and letting go. What it doesn't belong to it, it casts on the shore and as it recedes back appreciating all that its within.
