-morning glory
I loved you in all the
ways the wind has traveled
through endless nights fought
to live another contrived day
just thinking of how your smile
never reaches the corners of
frostbitten lips, splayed, blackened
without shame or care, like the morning
glory by the window awaiting midday's
trumpet hiding behind the longest sigh
I've ever known, strangling me
without regret or reference to
a good book on Chinese torture
or fond memories of a dead soldier...

Awww, thanks so much, Reita. What do you mean came easier? My long poemless periods?

Oh no, nothing like that. What I meant was is that we cannot know beauty without experiencing pain. If we had never felt pain, then how would we know we felt so good in the first place? If we had never felt what hard was... then we certainly wouldn't know anything soft. That is how people can live their whole life, eyes wide open, and yet they never see. Certainly they have sight, but they can never admit that, perhaps, they have been blind to some very vital things. Never let your poetry be rushed, Ed, just let it happen. Its a beautiful poem. :)

the melancholy of forlorn love,
strangled without regret.
fine work right here...

The past tense of this is as sodden as lifeless soil
whose seed long withered away. Such melancholy
stirs the emotions to tears.

I adore how you stick with your nature theme in your comments.. :)
It's true, because I still care for her deeply, regardless of reality...
Thanks for reading and the kind words...
