It was inspired by many things actually from world warfares, welfare to the everyday incidences of how people tend to look the other way then having to deal with something that may take them out of their comfort zone.
I'm glad to see your feedback Mourganna, I know how passionate you are about things that touch deeper than the skin.

we track those who can do the most horrific deeds, watching, scrutinizing their every move, then sit back and wait for them to make there move ..
and then it is too late ...
this is a beautifully crafted poem Vee,
Thank You

Thanks Jeje, you're right...the more the world becomes 'educated' the more ignorance possesses our senses.

It is that as well as the trickle down effect. When those in the highest positions look the other way once people of question have been cleared. We have become so callous as a nation. People would rather video tape horrific acts, then jump in and help, or stop it. Even the emotionless news broadcasters with their poker faces add to the problem. I just find where we are going as a nation completely appalling.

Totally in agreement with you Jeje. There's always an agenda with the higher-ups with careful tactics of manipulating the media and bombarding with wrong information that we don't know what to believe therefore most take the safe approach and not get involved...till the danger hits home or somehow we are personally affected.
I feel its become an epidemic, a disease of indifference...sadly.

those places of suffering & sorrow,

It's quite challenging to write about a social cause without making it sound like a rant, an anger poem and i was hoping to keep it more close to the bigger picture of our actions and how its projected to the reality. If i accomplished in some small sense then i'm happy.
Thanks John for your affirmation :)

I do adore this piece...
"Damnation you say?
when we did nothing
absolutely nothing
but
look away."
Great ending to a poem pact with many thought provoking words, seems to speak of the mortality of the soul and the conscious knowledge of right and wrong, just to scratch the surface. Amazing as usual, Vee. I think it is another for the reading list.

I see too much and I'm talking real everyday things around the city, around the neighborhoods, around the corner, down the alley....from the homeless to stray animals and sometimes its overwhelming and Im guilty of looking away at times too.

You've pleased me greatly with your comment Miki, knowing how interested, passionate you are about social injustice. It takes great deal of energy to stay positive and focused to raise awareness with any chance given but its definitely worth it, even if it makes a difference to one person.

Very true Brenda, we live in sad times and mostly because there's such awareness and yet most rather not do anything about it.
Thank you for your comment, greatly appreciated .

Thank you for this thought provoking and beautifully carved poem, Rina.
The number of hose who look away is increasing as well as senseless violence, sadly.
You put it in a nutshell.

Most often we watch it on some type of media and we're touched and yet we feel disconnected at the same time because the power is in our hands to tune out (shut it off) but at some point it touches home, it touches our lives up close and personal and no escaping, we're all living in this 'nutshell' the world is smaller than before.
Good to see you again Ms. Chi, i think you know how much i value your thoughts and opinions and very glad to share this with you.
