The Truth Nobody Ever Tells You
No one ever wants to get
To know the real you.
They just want a version
That best fits their worldview.
You'll spend the best years
Of your long but short life,
Pining over someone who will
Cut you every time like a knife.
And when you're finally ready
To let it all go and finding your future,
They will reveal their own
Unresolved feelings and sutures.
You will admit everything you feel
Just to try to find some closure,
But they'll rip back open your heart
And leave it to suffer from this exposure.
You will try as you might,
But you just can't win
When you let them put you
Through it all over and over again.
To know the real you.
They just want a version
That best fits their worldview.
You'll spend the best years
Of your long but short life,
Pining over someone who will
Cut you every time like a knife.
And when you're finally ready
To let it all go and finding your future,
They will reveal their own
Unresolved feelings and sutures.
You will admit everything you feel
Just to try to find some closure,
But they'll rip back open your heart
And leave it to suffer from this exposure.
You will try as you might,
But you just can't win
When you let them put you
Through it all over and over again.
