RITA, LEAVE THAT FLAG ALONE!
In a YouTube video, Kosovo-born British singer Rita Ora teasingly wraps herself in a British flag while apparently wearing nothing else (except in a later glimpse when she is topless in blue jeans), singing the raunchy song 'Body on Me' in implicit sexual overture. Would she have got away with the flags of some other nations?
Flag of one's adopted nation
As come-on for copulation?
What woman singing for a 'shag'
Wraps herself in the British flag,
Bringing it into disrepute
Rubbing it on her birthday suit?
We helped save her home from Serb rule,
If that's gratitude, I'm a fool!
If it had been the U.S.A.'s,
Would they like their flag used such ways?
Would Germans like seeing her hold
In this fashion the black-red-gold?
Would Putin like a girl naked
Playing with Russia's white-blue-red?

Sadly, she would have gotten away with it in the U.S. as well. Somehow, sacrilege is considered freedom of expression in my country.

I was not sure, as I understand there is such a ritual devotion to the flag in the US that is not so apparent in other noncommunist countries.
I recall reading that when a campaigner known for anti-war protests during the Vietnam era came onto a TV interview show in a T-short patterned in the stars and stripes the programmers pixillated the design off his shirt.
