Should walk around with my mouth taped
just give me half a chance and i squeal
told acquaintances that i had been raped
and now i know how lepers must feel
It's not contagious, did nothing wrong
but that's just how it sometimes goes
here's the deal, i won't sing you my song
and you will tell me none of your woes

It's a fucking shame those who you
told your sadness to had to make you feel like anything but a victim...
No you should tape your mouth, you should instead, cry louder for the injustice done to you n to help others like you feel they have a voice, n that THEY don't need to feel ashamed for being violated.

Wish i could give you a thousand likes for this Poetikmind.
i genuinely feel that people don't understand how much it hurts victims
when they walk away from their pain. A survivor friend of mine suggested that
some of them may be dealing with similar issues to themselves or other
loved ones and they just can't handle anything that reminds them of it.
i like to think that anyway, but then i get hurt again and lash out in poetry.
Some don't have any poetry to lash out with. Some don't even feel worthy
enough for a voice. My writing about my feelings is therapy for me, if it can help
someone else, then that's good, i will continue.

So much pain exists as a direct result of what should be easily controlled "instincts", but alas western culture has been desensitized by "reality TV" and its ancestors.

Hasn't it always been like this though? Two years later and i'm still an active member of the site
that saved my life. There are people there who have been hiding this for half a century or more
out of shame. Folks don't understand that a victim will feel very inclined to blame themselves
and when something like that happens, they feel destroyed all over again.
i want to thank you for replying nicegramps. There was a time when i was much younger and
still didn't fully understand my place in the world that i had opinions on rape based on no facts
whatsoever. i would say things like, yeah well she shouldn't have been dressed that sexy, she
shouldn't have gotten drunk with men and bla bla bla talking out of my ass. But no, i did not
ask for or deserve what happened to me, i have at least come to understand that much.
