the whitish dodo
give me the quill of the dodo, raphus beauty;
much to do with magic
clutched in my depths that would never impair,
but die by its own hand.

Interesting that you should make this comparison considering that the dodo (Raphus cucullatus) is an extinct flightless bird which would render whatever quill that it had at all useless.
But, I do know you better than that (in regards to your writing) and, understand that what your meaning of this exotic poem is, is jmajikal.

Thank you for such a compliment. :)
If you consider the entirety of the dodo’s existence, it far exceeds the human species of time being. The dodo was in fact a great success of measurement. And still today, there are pigeons that are more closely related to the dodos than they are related to other pigeons. I’m just a modified pigeon I guess. The ancient tale of the dodo is fascinating and endearing to me. The one that I always bring to light most is the near mythical tale of the Solitaire.

Your previous commenters have covered the gamut I would have commented from. I do love this poem though. What is the significance of the Dodo to you?

It certainly wasn't the bird's fault for being flightless and tasty, nor was it man's for his simple minded ignorance. Its for love of Evolution. The significant Dodo. I think of the Dodo and know how lucky am I to have known.
