Love and Death
' I love you and always will. I can't live without you so I'm not anymore. '
Those were the last words she left him with. He didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. I can't believe I let her go he thought to himself with tears in his eyes. His mind flashes back to the last time he saw her beautiful face. He had watched her leave his house obviously in pain. She was barely holding it together long enough to walk out. He cried himself to sleep that night.
Even as he slipped away from reality he was still dreaming of her. He dreamt of the times she tried to text him after she moved away and he had ignored her texts. He had thought if they stopped talking she would get better. he dreamt of when they were together and how he would catch her staring at him with the hint of her beautiful smile playing on her face. He had always wanted to ask her what she was thinking when she did that but never did. He knew she was in love with him. He just didn't return the feelings. He loved her but not in the same way. He dreamt of everything about how she'd laugh and smile, the way she talked, the nights she talked to him, her voice and her smell. It was too vivid even in his dreams for him.
He woke up sobbing. Please forgive me. I'm sorry. I did love you. I'm just too late to tell you he screamed silently. It had been over a week since she died. He thought of how her parents called him to tell him about her death. " She killed herself. She hung herself in her bathroom. she had a picture of you laying on the floor in front of her with a note addressed to you. I'm so sorry." They managed to spit this out in between the crying and the demands of God. they blamed God for taking their little girl away. He knew it was his fault.
He went to her funeral and stared at her lefeless face. I can't do this without you he whispered to her gently I'll join you soon. He said his condolences to her family, then got in his truck and drove away.
her parents knew he was torn up over her death. they went to check on him the next morning to make sure he was okay. They knocked on his hotel room door and got no answer. they didn't hear any noise coming from inside the room. They went to the front desk to ask about him and was told he had checked out the day before. they knew he hadn't gone home yet. he had made plans to come see them that day.
They headed to the cemetary and when they arrived they saw his truck parked outside of the cemetary gates. They didn't see him in his truck and decided to check at her gravestone. Where her body was laid was where he was. He didn't move as they came closer. They saw next to him a picture of her, three empty pill bottles, and an empty bottle of vodka. Attached to her headstone was a not that said this:
' I love you and I always will. I'm sorry for what I did to you. I'm sorry for the pain i caused you. No we'll be together for eternity '
Who knows if they ever found each other. but if they are together I know they will be happy in each others' arms for the rest of eternity. Love does die with the person who holds it but it just carries on into the next life.
