Ghetto Life
Needles and rubbers
fill up the gutter
Just the sight of them all
makes me want to shudder
and maybe stutter out a few words that trash
the man that sells this shit for petty cash
After the deal, its time to steal some of that pay
For a taxi to take him around the way
to find a hooker to lay
Once the deed is done its time to run
and make like you were never even seen....
Like a ghost on Hallows Eve
Hell naw, you never saw me what have you been smoking? You sure it was weed?

Gritty life in the city, very well told. I take this as three quick glimpses into the thoughts of three different folks who live in the ghetto. The first stanza is someone who bears witness to the horror and can only "stutter out" words of protest, or maybe write a poem. The second stanza's a john with some spare cash. The third stanza's a kid, pretty fast on the streets. That's my take on "Ghetto Life" and I could of course be dead wrong. I enjoyed it in any case. It's fun to read and sobering to think about. Great job mysteriouslady!

Thanks Crow! I took a stab at something new...what the hell right. Where I grew up, life could be pretty ugly for some and we were strolling down memory lane today and it just popped in my head so I thought Id share. Thanks for the read and awesome perspective, Crow. Much love to ya.

This write reinforces a political belief of mine, but that is probably far from what you intended. As usual, songs come to mind, including the lyrics of Stevie Wonder, Prince, and "Street Life" by the Crusaders.

Well inked lady. When I read this one it has kind of a beat to it. My favorite parts the end it made me smile. ( Hell naw, you never saw me what have you been smoking? You sure it was weed?) You got to make sure that weed is not laced with anything lol

Miss Lady, my apologies for not reading this before but this piece is stellar considering (in a previous comment) about taking a "stab" at it. . .it's brilliant, and the flow was excellent. . .I think many of us grew up in or around the ghetto life, some more extreme than others, however, the reflection is relatable. . .Enjoyed. . .Devlin;)
