They Came From The East

A siphoning breeze,
Suffocated by dust,
Sustained by ash,
Faith burning like a rash,
Dedication measured by decibels for salvation or bust,
Aiming down the sights in pursuit of peace,
A splintered calling,
Scripture bound cells,
Prophets up for auction,
Baptized in a fiery benediction,
A four horse drawn carriage heralding a cataclysmic revelation,
A promised utopia among the world's skeleton,
Smiling at the camera during macabre bobble-head show-and-tells,
Preaching purity to the women you're mauling,
The media gasping for breath in their choke-hold,
Police officers chaffing in their handcuffs,
The people smothered behind black garments in their puritan prison,
Flocked by hapless individuals you seek to mold,
Stitching together fanatical zealots from the corpses of seraphs,
Your benevolent legacy lines in the graves of the heretics you've shunned,
But there's a light in the distance,
The righteous resistance,
Marching together for spiritual truth or lawful justice,
One people both believers and atheists,
Mono and polytheists,
Unite under one banner,
For the peaceful world we once were.
