Dark Beauty
A visage from the realm of dream...
The rictus of a voiceless scream.
I lie awake, pinned to the bed,
Aswim the darkness in my head.
I feel him there... the weight upon
My chest, all breath heavily drawn.
Yet know not what I answer for...
...What crime condemned me to this war.
... What dark beauty I once heard sing,
Upon a time I still bore wing.
... What tempt of faith should land me here,
Catching in drops , a demons tears.
She sang to me, her voice soft white,
As I was caught in timeless flight.
And yet the lure which runs me still
Was simply that of man, free will.
The will to live, the will to fight.
The will to fuck all through the night.
The will to hold, honor and cherish.
The will to love, and then to perish.
And yet wings clipped, longing for sleep
Within her arms, cradled and deep.
The weight crushing, all hope ends here...
Inches from her, riddled with fear.
The face before me nondescript,
A haze to mind, ever adrift.
The dream of life never attained,
Prize to the Incubus ordained.
I watch, as will slowly bleeds out,
With sunrise erasing all doubt.
My love, she stands and walks away,
While pinned forever here, I lay.
The face now visible, I see
The demon on my chest is me...
As I, once angel, live in haunt,
A prisoner to my one sin... want!
Eternity ringing the bell
Of a selfish angel in hell,
Her dark beauty I'll never hold...
Price of the destiny I sold.
