Horrors both large and small
But...
The chinks appear on the interior
No defense against blue fire, the lust

The rapture of her capture

Reads like a clever ad with the fine-print caveats at the end. I am definitely prone to the interior chinks you deftly describe. Bravo!

Sometimes I wonder if I should more than imply the in-betweens but don't want to make it easy, spell things out. That might spoil the fun.

Hmmm..."Strong on the surface, not all the way through..." , mo Chara ???? Seems that even the strongest armor we create, is somehow never quite infallible when it comes to 'Hyde'-(ing) the "Darkness" buried deep inside us.....or as in the case with your poem, the more 'forbidden' side to lust.....
Appreciated the subtle, 'sinister' sensuality of this scribe, Crowfly!

What grabbed me initially about this piece is the possible double-meaning in the homophone of Hyde/Hide. The hide inside, the inner skin, a whole 'nother world like the theorized center of the Earth. And the beast scratching out, like a prisoner buried alive in a coffin.

One of my favorite hip hop artists Brother Ali has a line "I think I built the fences too late, the demons were already in." Hyde inside only grows more intelligent, more aware with all the growth the outward self undergoes. Hyde has access to far too much. I always admired the moderated, balanced path that projects in your work, crowfly. A keen sense of human darkness and realness, but tempered with the patience of age. Not elevating the beast nor making excuses thereof but providing an honest discussion. Thanks for connecting on this chamber! Your work inspires me.
