Enough
S'posed to be my forever,
How'd it ever come to this?
I try so hard to make it right,
Dying without your kiss.
And I thought we would never
Have such hurtful things to say.
Now every talk turns to a fight...
Every fight, a wasted day.
But I love you enough to walk away.
Never dreamt I could hurt you,
Now it's all I seem to do.
I try so hard to make you smile,
Do you even want to?
The gate open, we've done walked through...
No going back I know.
Look away, take up my endless mile;
It's but my heart I forgo.
Woman, I love you enough to let you go.
I'll still think of you everyday,
The way we used to be.
Your touch, your kiss, your smiling eyes;
The dreams you shared with me...
And pray that God will find a way
To make them all come true.
That with time, He'll end your cries,
And bring you someone new...
That it be enough you forget I still love you.

Touching, but i often wonder, do men really miss, or are they only saying it, just because they can? I actually believed you meant it. Got my thoughts provoked! Liking it!

Men are more human than someone in your shoes might think, Survivor... some of us anyway. I used to be very jaded toward women in general... now am content to think humanity itself is the problem. I can assure you of one thing, I spill no ink that isn't genuinely felt by me at the time I am writing it. :) Thank you for the read and reply, always happy to see you here.

This is a tender and poignant tribute and goodbye. You convey the depth and immensity of your feelings so eloquently, as well as acknowledge the Rubicon passed with elegant regret and heartfelt apology.
Just one thing more, luv... :-*
I think that the end of the poem can and should apply to you as well for healing can and should occur for you both, luv. :-*
(Tiny edit, mayhap: In that second-to-last line, should "knew" be "new"?)
You are an immensely gifted poet, luv, with an incredible ability to cut through to the essence of a thing and express raw feeling in a viscerally felt way.

Thank you, Savaja, for the wonderful and in-depth reply... and for catching that typo. Wasn't in much of a proofreading mood went I posted this. Apologies. I must commend you on how much you put into your replies... I get excited every time I see you've replied to something of mine, cause you offer so much insight. Giving you a special thanks just for that.
Not sure I believe in happy endings anymore... Happiness was never intended for everybody, or there'd be a whole lot more of it around I think. I accept my lot. :)

Hiya, K2m... I've just had way too much practice in the pain department I think. Lol. Hoping to take a break from that real soon. :) sorry that you can relate to this in a personal way. Always nice to be understood, but not necessarily cause one has had similar experiences. May there be better times for both of us ahead.
