This is a puzzle with some real mystery and depth to it. Your vocabulary, as always, amazes me, and your brief lines contain clues. Your applying "malleable" to the laboring class suggests "vulnerable" to me, but it's kind of a litmus test. Their having a "perfect case" is some reassurance. And that last line "We kill the best possible reason" has considerable power. Who could that magnificent reason have been? I love your style, your idiosyncrasies, and this poem.
