Reminiscent (Co-written with Rose)
I'd been waiting, not for just anyone
I'd know by the way my smile gave away
my happiness, and so it was trivial to time
or day that he should be the one to be creative
with my smiles that I so gave up willingly to
the boy with the blue eyes, the one to take my heart.
This is the place we met as young kids
An old playground that seemed to be everything at that age
I can still imagine it in my head, you blowing dandelions into the air
Standing there with your blond hair and white dress
Me being so fascinated, I couldn’t help but get drawn in
Day after day we played, with everyday meeting with you blowing another dandelion into the air
The thought still makes me smile
From sand pits to swings we'd play
Into his blue eyes I'd stare
giggle and share our time together
but there'd be a time to close this chapter
this summer's eve as the nights closed in
I withdrew
watched from afar my blue eyed boy
till he stopped searching
the passing of time seemed irrelevant
trivial
But each week he'd return
The playground unused
sand to soil to grass
the swings grating against un oiled parts
as I still watched from afar
Many years have passed, yet I couldn’t get that girl out of my mind
Thinking whatever happen to my old friend?
I decided to start going back to that park
To see if maybe she brought her kids around to play
Thinking we could have some old laughs or something
Though that would be a long shot, after all
Still, there was something about that girl that called out to me
So came the day I finally found her again, with a dandelion in hand
Having me in shock, as she hadn't aged a bit
My old friend looked at me and asked “want to play?
