Defining Peace

Peace
I Googled that word today
and it told me
"freedom from disturbance
quiet and tranquility
freedom from war
the cessation of violence"

Now let me tell you
what I believe is peace

Peace
it is waking up in the morning
to the sound of blessed quiet
no yelling, no crying, no warring
a sense of normalcy where all is truly fine
not fine as in "it could be better"
but fine as in "I have found my safe haven
this that I can finally call mine"

Peace
it is a dream finally come to fruition
it is an inner strength
that doesn't flinch from the swing of a fist
it is the absence of all that is distraction
it is the contrast of night and day

And now let me tell you
what I think of peace for not just individuals
but for peace on an international level
Yes
let us talk about World Peace

I believe
that fighting for peace
is like fucking for virginity
It has never worked
and it never will
you speak of peace on earth?
then end your petty wars
starting with
the war on peace

Just stop fighting

the war on terror
the war on drugs
the war on poverty
the war on obesity

Just stop!

These aren't great conquests
these are not knightly battles
fought for god, king, and country
no.
This all boils to a war on people
and in the end
we are only fighting ourselves

The only way to peace
is to cease our battles
to keep ourselves from waging wars
to learn to coexist

accept others for their beliefs
do not hate, do not condemn
you love who you love
believe it or not
it is only through love
that all can win

no more bullying and no more killing
I understand that people will always be people
but it takes generations to change nations
and only a single second to decide one's fate
