Once Upon a Time

When a story begins with "Once upon a time"
You expect the ending line,
To be "Happily ever after"
You may expect a story filled with laughter,
Or perhaps a true love's kiss,
Maybe a granted wish,
But in real life the story never ends that way,
It instead ends with a rainy day,

When you hear "It was a dark and stormy night"
You expect a monster to come into sight,
You think the hero dies,
You wait for screams and cries,
Or for blood to shed,
And see how everyone bled,
But in real life the ending is better,
Even if the story started a little wetter,
